The lid has a symmetrical design of delicate foliate elements engraved in four quadrants which are defined by bold diagonal bands.At the center where these diagonals meet,an ovale catouche is inscribed in cursive with the initials 'JMB'.The side
of the box are ringed by engrved zig zag and segmented lines. On the bottom of the box,a zigzag
line surrounds the perimeter,as well as a central rectangulararea encompassing an engraved leafy branch.Upon opening the box one finds a simple pierced grille.
